Hello, my name is Mark Stanton

Evince: to reveal the presence of (a quality or feeling). This was a series I created with the intention of showcasing some of the emotions that transgender individuals often feel. The goal of this project was to humanize trans* people by providing audiences with a visual representation of the emotions that are often experienced by them. I also wanted to be able to provide other trans* people a piece of work to relate to, as often times there is little representation of trans* people in media. The photos attached are samples from the project, titled "Euphoria" and "Dysphoria," which both provide a visual representation of the two most commonly discussed feelings of gender euphoria and gender dysphoria.

The Circus Project

"The Circus Project" is my most recent ongoing series inspired by my fascination with clowns and the circus theme. Within this project, my aim is to simply create various artworks using the circus theme, with a focus on portraiture.

Dissimulate

Dissimulate: To hide one's feelings and thoughts. This project was created for the purpose of showcasing my own struggles with mental health and my issues with hiding parts of myself from others. It is a very personal piece because it not only showcases my struggles, but the struggles that so many other people experience. My aim was to bring light to the unspoken side of mental illness through the use of abstract paintings and sculptures in order to showcase the feelings of being trapped within ones own mind, as well as the struggle of coming forward about negative emotions due to fear of judgement. My goal with this project is to provide comfort to those who struggle with mental illness and to promote mental illness awareness.
